On a warm night in Houston, there’s nothing better than a cold drink and good music, but often it’s hard to find the two together. Luckily, the Bayou Music Center has both in excess, enough to help even the most stressed Texan find some peace. Bayou Music Center parking might be difficult to find, as several chill bands, comedians and classic performers play frequently, making it a good move to book Bayou Music Center parking ahead of time so you can beat the crowd.
Of course, the Bayou Music Center wasn’t always known by that name. It started out in 1997 as the Aerial Theater before the naming rights were purchased in 2002 by Verizon. From then on it was known as the Verizon Wireless Theater, but after ten years the name got stale (and the naming rights lapsed), so LiveNation renamed it to the Bayou Music Center. Depending on the event, the theater’s seating can be modified, from a maximum of 3,400 visitors to as small as 50 guests for parties and more intimate occasions. It can be quite a lively place at times, especially with six bars in house. There is one bar each on either side of the concert stage, two upstairs in the balcony, one in the concert hall and one last bar way in the back of the theater.
Several guests have played at the Bayou over the years, including Elton John, Coldplay, Nickelback, Steely Dan, Robin Williams, Etta James, Bill Maher and Joe Rogan. The Bayou Center is true to its name, as it is south of the Buffalo Bayou and luckily not on it. West of the Bayou Music Center is The Hobby Center for Performing Arts and northeast is the Houston Grand Opera, making it easy to find the venue. Depending on the concert, finding Bayou Music Center Houston parking may be hard to find, so booking former Verizon Wireless Theater parking spaces with ParkWhiz is the best way to get to the show.
