Marina City
Chicago is a city with a penchant for unique architecture, but you don’t always have to look up to skyscrapers like the Sears Tower or the John Hancock Center when you can just walk by the River North neighborhood and take in the edifice of the Marina City towers. The two towers that comprise the majority of the Marina City complex were completed in 1964, bringing the plans of Bertrand Goldberg to fruition upon the banks of the Chicago River. Though intended as an apartment building, the residential units became condos a little over a decade later, and have thrived ever since. The Marina City towers are collectively unique in that both of them are equipped with a built-in parking garage, feature lightning-fast elevators, their own dedicated marina (hence the name) and even their own House of Blues location, which serves all of Chicago. This architecturally dynamic duo have been featured on album covers, movie and TV cameos and more, making them a great tourist attraction. If you want to see them up close (or park in their garage), you can book Marina City parking ahead of your visit with ParkWhiz.
