More about Boch Center - Wang Theatre
The Wang Theatre is one of the most celebrated theatres in Boston’s Theater District. The Wang Theatre was originally named the Metropolitan Theatre when it opened in 1925, designed by the prominent theater architect Clarence Blackall. With opulent interior decorating, it performed well as a movie palace and vaudeville venue. In 1962, the Metropolitan was renamed The Music Hall. Over time, the theater grew older and for a period it was unable to attract touring companies. To correct this, the theater became a non-profit and was renamed The Metropolitan Center in 1980. With the assistance of a $9.8 million donation by Dr. An Wang, the theatre was renovated and then renamed The Wang Center for the Performing Arts. Following the restoration, the theatre was renamed to Citi Performing Arts Center - Wang Theatre, which changed to the Boch Center - Wang Theatre in September 2016, following a naming rights deal with the Boch family. Past performances include Radio City Christmas Spectacular, Miss Saigon, The Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables. It can get busy in Boston’s Theater District, so it makes sense to book Wang Theatre parking in advance with ParkWhiz to save time and money.
