Shedd Aquarium
The Shedd Aquarium is one of the greatest tourist attractions in Chicago, with 32,500 animals on display in the tanks and habitats held within. The Shedd opened in 1930, and as one of the first inland aquariums in the world, it had to rely on a custom railway car to get seawater and fish into the aquarium. The aquarium gained exposure during the 1933 World's Fair which was held in Chicago near the aquarium. Animals on display include an Australian Lungfish (who is 86 years old!), Beluga whales, sea otters, Pacific dolphins, a green sea turtle, and sharks.
The parking situation around Shedd Aquarium can be rough, with the aquarium located on a peninsula extending into Lake Michigan. Luckily, ParkWhiz is here with parking spots all around the South Loop area and other locations easily accessible from the Shedd. So when you're heading to downtown Chicago for an aquatic excursion, make sure to check out ParkWhiz to find the best in parking.
