The Rose Quarter is a dynamic, lively area of Portland which features the best in sports and entertainment. The centerpiece of the area is the Moda Center, a highly configurable multi-purpose arena that can seat up to about 19,440 guests. The arena was constructed as a result of the increasing popularity of the NBA, which quickly made the Veterans Memorial Coliseum too small for the fans of its home team, the Portland Trail Blazers. While it was originally named the Rose Garden Arena, it was renamed to the Moda Center in 2013 following a naming rights deal with Moda Health. The arena features a seating configuration named “Theater of the Clouds”, which utilizes the center court and west side of the structure to produce an intimate atmosphere for theater events. A particularly unique feature of the building is the “acoustical cloud”, which uses acoustical panels to direct the sound of the crowd and direct it back to the basketball court. Past events include two NBA Western Conference Finals games, BMX and motocross events along with political rallies. When you attend an event at the arena, be sure to book your Moda Center parking spot ahead of time with ParkWhiz.
