Have you been to the largest musical festival in the world or are you among the millions who’ve attended? Summerfest has been a Milwaukee staple ever since Mayor Henry W. Maier created the event in 1968. Over the years, it’s grown into an eleven-day festival with eleven stages, more than eight hundred acts, one thousand performers, and around nine hundred thousand attendees. It’s no wonder that Summerfest earned Guinness World Records' title of World’s Largest Music Festival in 1999. Since then, it’s seat at the top hasn’t been challenged. The only thing that can be contentious is American Family Insurance Amphitheater parking in the heart of Milwaukee. For help with Summerfest parking, turn to ParkWhiz.
The American Family Insurance Amphitheater has hosted Summerfest headliners ever since, with A-Listers such as Whitney Houston, Metallica, Prince, and Lady Gaga gracing the stage. The amphitheater was originally constructed in 1989 in response to overcrowding when Huey Lewis and the News headlined Summerfest in 1984. When it was first built, the venue was named the Marcus Amphitheater due to contributions from the Marcus Corporation that made the space possible.
Renamed in 2017 after the benefactors of the forthcoming new facility, the current American Family Insurance Amphitheater can hold twenty-five thousand fans with just over nine thousand pavilion seats, seven thousand lawn seats, and nearly nine thousand spots in general admission. Construction on the new amphitheater is due to start in 2019.
With nine hundred thousand fans filling the Summerfest grounds, it’s no wonder that American Family Insurance Amphitheater parking for Summerfest is at a premium. Book through ParkWhiz, pay online, and we’ll make sure that all you have to worry about is which artist you’re going to see first!
