While the arena is now a main attraction within the South Core district of Downtown Toronto, it was built on the the site of a previous landmark: the Canada Post’s Toronto Postal Delivery Building. The old building was completed in 1941 and parts of it were used for the arena’s construction in the late 1990’s. The art deco facades of the old postal delivery building were incorporated along the east and south walls of the structure.
