International Flavor to Kick-Off the New Meadowlands Stadium

Costing a whopping 1.6 billion to construct, the most expensive stadium ever built goes on display tonight.  Ok, technically the New Meadowlands Stadium already debuted with a lacrosse tripleheader on April 10th.  But it’s one thing to host a college lacrosse event and another to host 75,000+ crazed soccer fans in a World Cup exhibition match featuring Mexico vs. Ecuador.   

But since the stadium is now a 50/50 partnership between the Jets and Giants (in the old stadium the Jets were a junior partner, hence the moniker Giants Stadium), is it gonna be Meadowlands Stadium?  New Meadowlands Stadium? Giants/Jets Stadium? Or will there be a sponsor that steps up and makes an offer ownership can’t refuse…MetLife Stadium, anyone?

Whatever the stadium ultimately ends up called, there’s no questioning the venue will be a rockin’ throughout the year.  With over 30+ events scheduled throughout the year, East Rutherford won’t be getting much sleep.  And with a fighter’s chance that Meadowlands Stadium lands the Super Bowl and/or World Cup, the city will be a buzz for years to come.
