CHICAGO — In today's Midwest Minute, we look at ParkWhiz.com, which is a Chicago-based company designed to make downtown event parking convenient.
ParkWhiz.com announced on Wednesday that it has inked a deal with the Lyric Opera of Chicago to offer ticket holders the option of convenience valet parking. ParkWhiz.com will offer ticket holders the option of online, pre-reserved valet parking beginning on Sept. 29.
This is the first time ParkWhiz.com is working with a large venue. Lyric Opera of Chicago patrons will be able to reserve parking online either through ParkWhiz.com or through a link on the Lyric Opera of Chicago Web site.
Patrons are prompted to enter a credit card number to reserve a valet parking space. The price includes a 10 percent convenience fee. Patrons then print their reservations and head off the opera. Once at the opera house, patrons hand their reservation to an attendant, receive their valet stub and go inside.
If patrons choose not to valet park, ParkWhiz.com also offers options to find available parking in nearby garages. The interface tools on ParkWhiz.com allow users to search for a garage by price, hours of operation and distance from a destination. The site also offers mapping functionality.
ParkWhiz.com is one of 250 companies nominated for a 2007 Chicago Innovation Award for assisting Chicago-area drivers through its Web site.
